Enthusiasm High at Medical Student Event https://westernsono.ca/news/enthusiasm-high-at-medical-student-event/ Wed, 12 Dec 2012 02:01:53 +0000 https://westernsono.ca/?p=473 First and second year medical students participated in a successful abdominal ultrasound workshop hosted by the Point of Care Ultrasound Interest Group on December 10 at University Hospital.  The event was well attended and feedback from students was extremely positive.  Big thanks to Mike Clemente (Meds 2015) and Evan Ailon (Meds 2016) for planning the session and also to Drs. Rob Arntfield, Drew Thompson and Mirza Baig for lending their time and expertise.

The evening started off with an interactive and informative discussion on point of care applications of abdominal ultrasound followed by a hands-on session with three ultrasound machines present.  Each student had the opportunity to scan the abdominal aorta and gallbladder belonging to our AAA grade, yet AAA-free, medical student volunteers.

We look forward to the group’s next event in January on point of care applications of OB/GYN ultrasound.  Cardiac ultrasound, lung ultrasound and central line insertion workshops are also on our radar for the New Year.

Below are pictures from the December 10 event.
